It was discovered in 2011 and began development in 2013 in cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), ShaMaran and Marathon Oil. The Atrush block is a crude oil development with ten producing wells, an on-block central processing facility and a temporary early production facility located at one of the drilling pads. Crude oil production from the block is transported to the boundary where the export crude enters the Kurdistan Export Pipeline network and is sold to the Kurdistan Regional Government.
